About the story
What’s with this “Wren” thing?
The oldest extant version of the fable we are presenting here appeared in 1913 in the first volume of a two-volume anthology of Low Saxon folktales (Plattdeutsche Volksmärchen “Low German Folktales”) collected by Wilhelm Wisser (1843–1935). Read more ...

[English] [Suomi]

I was born in June 1941, and my earliest memories include wartime city scenes, air raids. At the age of twenty-something I got an irresistible urge to travel that led me to hitchhike around Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. I finally landed in Antwerp, where I spent three years, got me a bunch of friends and a spouse, started to learn the language, eventually returned to Finland.

I’ve been working as a translator since 1981, mainly for television, but I’ve done books too, from English and Dutch.

I joined the Lowlands community some seven years ago, to my great satisfaction.
