Snow
De Snee

Ein niederdeutsches Kindergedicht · A Low Saxon Children’s Poem
Klaus Groth, Vær de Gærn (1858) · English: Reinhard F. Hahn

Snow from the skies!
How it falls! How it flies
in a dense blurry flurry
from the sky in a hurry!
From the clouds fluffy gifts
like doves, like swifts,
like feathers, like down
onto house, fence and town,
as feathers so light.

Auntie Neighbor, hold tight!
Run inside, but don’t slide!
Send the children outside!
The chicks big and small!
Must come see it all!
All kids short and tall,
They must come. Call them all!
Everywhere now it flies,
all that snow from the skies.
