Together We Went to the Field
Wi gungn tosam to Feld
Ein niederdeutsches Gedicht · A Low Saxon (Low German) Poem
Klaus Groth, Quickborn, 1856 · English:
Reinhard F. Hahn
Together
we went to the field, dear John,
Together we ended each day,
Together we sat at the table and ate,
And so we grew old and gray. |
Uphill
so easy, downhill so hard,
So many years as a pair—
And still, sweet John, as much in love
As when we had brown hair. |
