Ein niederdeutsches Kindergedicht · A Low Saxon Children’s
Poem

Drizzle,
drizzle, rain!
We’re warm at home again.
The trees give cover to the birds.
The walls protect the cattle herds.
Drizzle, drizzle, rain!
We’re warm at home again.
Go,
now, rain! Go whoosh!
How nice it smells, that bush!
The flowers droop and almost fall.
The trees don’t move their leaves at all.
Go, now, rain, go whoosh!
How nice it smells, the bush!
Go
on pouring, rain,
Onto our house again,
Then down the roof in forceful gush
And from the ash in silent rush!
Go on pouring, rain,
Onto our house again!
Go
on gushing, rain,
And fill up every drain!
Then let the clouds all disappear,
And let the sun keep shining here!
Go on gushing, rain,
And fill up every drain!
