Dear Sirs: If anyone is going to visit Altenbruch, Germany they should see the U-Boot museum and go through the St Nikolai church; they can also visit the sea shore and dikes. An excellent place to stay and eat is the Deutsches Haus Hotel. Cannot miss it; it is in the center of the village. If you have relatives from this area the church records go back to 1600's which are in the Alte Handschrift but legible. They also have records going back into the 1500's but difficult to interpret. Otterndorf is close by and has an archive center which has very good information on names, and are very helpful if you are into genealogy.
The attachment was given to me by a Mr. Tiedemann whom I met in the hotel. Can you offer any help in determining if this is a legitimate document? Hard for me to really interpret because the German is old and my German is not great. I would like to research the beginning of the name von Broock and have another source for the name which says that the name is derived from Bruch.
mit freundlichen Gruessen,
Bob Myers
