A word I love: rummlegumption

Scots “rummlegumption

Gin ye hae it ye maun uise it, neebour. (If you have it you must use it, buddy.)Rummle means “to rummage” around for something.

Gumption, which is used in some English varieties as well, might be translated as “get-up-and-go.”

These come together to give the idea of a person who is able to find things out and sort things out. It could be translated as “common sense.”
